The apartment is on the first floor and is south facing giving all day sun. The Brises del Mar is an excellent choice for those looking for a high quality accommodation on the doorstep of the resorts' facilities and beach. The Local Area Estartit's magnificent golden sandy beach stretches 5 kms along the coast to Platja de Pals and is separated in the middle by the River Ter. The beach shelves gently into the sea making it an ideal choice for families and the size of the beach means even in high season it does not become over crowded!! Originally a traditional fishing village, Estartit has grown in popularity with holiday makers over the years. As a resort, it offers a wide range of facilities and is well suited to couples of all ages as well as families. The seafront promenade leads to the old town and working harbour which is home to numerous leisure crafts, working fishing boats & pleasure boats which take out divers and tourists to the Medes Isles. Traditional tapas bars and cosmopolitan cafes make this the real heart of Estartit. The resort itself has a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants and entertainments to suit all ages and tastes. For a more traditional Catalan feel, the church square down to the harbour offers a variety of bars & restaurants offering local cuisine and tapas. With many many festivals held throughout the year in Catalunya you will find the local dance of the "Sardanes" a regular feature in the church square. firework displays, parades, live music and much more are also regular features throughout the summer calender Situated on the Northern end of the Costa Brava, a short distance from the French Border, the Catalonian resort of Estartit is within comfortable driving distance of the Channel Ports. The Motorway takes you to within approximately 30 minutes of this lovely resort which was once a small fishing village and possibly due to its 5km stretch of sandy beach, has now grown into a popular holiday resort. Even in July and August one is able to find an uncrowded spot on what is arguably one of the finest beaches on the Mediterranean Coast. The Medas Isles, which shelter Estartit, are a group of small protected isles situated a mile from the coast of Estartit and are considered to be the finest nature reserve for Marine Life on the Mediterranean. The water is very clear and trips on the Glass Bottom Boat are very popular. The Medes Isles are home to thousands of species of fish and various species of birds. Regular glass bottom boat excursions go out to the Islands and there are many diving schools to choose from should you fancy a go at scuba diving or snorkelling! Boat excursions are available from the Marina and for anyone bringing their own boat it is normally possible to reserve a berth through the Club Nautico. Estartit is the premier Diving centre in Catalonia. Famous in the world of diving, divers come from all over the world to dive here. For the Golfer, many Championship courses are within easy reach of the Resort. In addition to golf, diving, sailing, windsurfing, both river and sea fishing, horse riding, micro lighting, tennis and squash are just a few of the sporting facilities available in the area. A large open air market takes place in Estartit every Thursday morning & there are plenty of shops, night clubs and discos. The restaurants and bars situated along the front are wonderful places to sit and watch the world go by whilst sampling the local wine or perhaps eating some of the locally caught fish. A bus service links Estartit to Gerona and the Mediaeval Town of Torroella de Montgri, 7 kms inland from Estartit which has its own market every Monday morning. Excursions to the famous Catalonian Cities of Barcelona, Gerona and Figueras, (with the Dali Museum) are available from Estartit. The old Mediaeval villages of Pals and Peratallada are also worthwhile places to visit, as are the extensive Graeco/Roman ruins of Ampurias and the little village of St Martin de Ampurias nearby.
